AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Writer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:

Produce clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation including user manuals, product guides, online help, and API documentation

Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product managers to gather and understand technical information
Analyze product features and functionality to determine documentation requirements
Create and maintain information architecture for technical content
Produce meeting materials including agendas, minutes, and action lists
Edit, proofread, and revise existing documentation
Ensure consistency in style, tone, and formatting across all documentation
Incorporate user feedback to improve documentation quality and usability

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field
3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the software or technology industry
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and explain them clearly to non-technical audiences
Proficiency in documentation tools and Microsoft Office 365
Familiarity with markup languages (e.g., HTML, XML) and content management systems
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Active SECRET Clearance and US Citizenship

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $53,000.00/Yr. - USD $111,600.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
