Role Description

The Mechanical Engineering team at Form is focused on designing the battery cell, module, and system enclosure that forms the foundation of our innovative utility-scale multi-day energy storage system. We strive to deliver designs that are optimized for performance, quality, reliability, and cost for high-volume manufacturing at Form Factory.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work on the mechanical design and integration of Form Energy's long-duration energy storage system battery modules. This role will contribute to mechanical architecture trade studies, component design, and cost analysis, and will focus on converting a conceptual design into a detailed mechanical design, with emphasis on design for manufacture and assembly.

What you'll do:
  • Mechanical design of Form Energy's battery module components, moving through our product development process from concept design to manufacture

  • Develop functional requirements in close collaboration with members of Form's product and technology development teams

  • Perform hands-on prototyping of your designs

  • Work with manufacturing engineers and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume internal production

  • Collaborate with testing teams to define and execute validation test plans

  • Support the design, build, and test of engineering prototypes

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of industry experience in mechanical design

  • Experience in computer aided design (CAD) and geometric tolerancing and dimensioning (GD&T)

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines

  • Familiar with plastic component design and manufacturing techniques such as injection molding and extrusion
