POSITION SUMMARY

Lighthouse Credit Union is similarly expanding its strategic focus in home lending-including mortgages, home equity loans, and lines of credit. The Director, Home Lending Portfolio Strategy will guide both near- and long-term initiatives, integrating market data, member insights, and cross-functional collaboration to drive sustained growth, profitability, and enhanced member experiences across the home lending product portfolio. Reporting to the SVP of Strategy, this role partners with Finance, Product, Marketing, IT, Operations, Risk, and Compliance to craft data-driven strategies, manage OKRs, and facilitate QBR sessions. By converting analytical findings into actionable roadmaps, the Director ensures Lighthouse's home lending portfolio remains responsive to shifting market conditions and evolving member needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Strategic Roadmap & Vision: Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for home lending-including mortgage, home equity products, and lines of credit-to meet growth, profitability, and member satisfaction targets.

* Profitability & P&L Insight: Analyzes financial statements, market interest rates, and home lending portfolio performance to articulate P&L impact from performance drivers. Coordinates with Finance to track KPIs (loan growth, yield, delinquency) and ensures accountability for financial outcomes.

* Market & Competitive Analysis: Conducts and supports Insights team in-depth research on housing market trends, competitor offerings, and member preferences related to home financing. Identifies opportunities for product differentiation, pricing, and portfolio optimization.

* Business Case & Thought Leadership: Develops robust business cases for new home lending products, product enhancements, or partnerships. Presents recommendations to senior leadership, offering forward-looking insights.

* Cross-Functional Project Management: Drives end-to-end execution for home lending initiatives, aligning cross-functional stakeholders around key milestones. Collaborates with Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and Marketing to ensure seamless implementation.

* OKRs & QBR Facilitation: Establishes and manages Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) for the home lending portfolio. Leads QBRs and ongoing strategic planning processes to maintain transparency, align resources, and monitor progress against strategic targets.

* Regulatory & Risk Alignment: Partners with Risk, Legal, and Compliance to ensure mortgage and home equity strategies meet regulatory standards, including fair lending and underwriting guidelines.

* Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Cultivates strong relationships with executives, peers, and frontline leaders. Translates complex analyses into concise communications that detail strategic insights, recommendations, and resource needs.

* Team Cultivation & Leadership: Builds and manages a talented team, encouraging collaboration, innovation, and analytical excellence. Promotes ongoing professional growth and knowledge-sharing.

* Performance Tracking & Accountability: Monitors the execution of home lending initiatives and KPIs, flagging emerging risks or resource shortages. Implements corrective measures to ensure timely project completion and successful outcomes.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

* Strategic Visionary: Displays the ability to chart a clear path for home lending, balancing immediate needs with long-term growth objectives.

* Analytical & Financial Acumen: Adept at assessing financial statements, recognizing credit risk factors, and modeling the economics of mortgage/home equity products is a plus.

* Complex Problem-Solving: Skilled at navigating regulatory complexities, market fluctuations, and underwriting standards, applying robust analytical methods to devise actionable plans.

* Influential Communicator: Confident presenting to executive leadership, condensing complex housing market data and strategic insights into clear, compelling recommendations.

* Collaborative Leader: Effective in cross-functional settings, bringing various teams together to execute on shared goals (Finance, Risk, Operations, etc.).

* Entrepreneurial & Adaptable: Remains flexible in a dynamic environment, responding to interest rate changes, property market shifts, and evolving member demands.

* Results-Oriented: Defines and pursues ambitious targets for loan growth, profitability, and portfolio stability; fosters accountability through regular check-ins and metrics review.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

* 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or financial services, with specific exposure to mortgages or home lending.

* Proven record of creating and executing strategic plans, market analyses, and financial forecasts in home lending.

* Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to implementation within mortgage and/or home equity lending.

* Strong analytical skills with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, or data visualization tools; familiarity with mortgage underwriting processes a plus.

* Exceptional communication and influencing skills, including presentations at the executive or Board level.

* Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks specific to home lending (e.g., fair lending laws, TRID, ability-to-repay rules).

* Experience leading or mentoring teams, showcasing the capacity to develop and inspire talent.

WORK ARRANGEMENT:

The working arrangement for this position is hybrid. Hybrid work is an opportunity to find the right balance between working in the office and remotely, especially if it supports individual success and the needs of our organization. Hybrid schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business unit needs and may vary by department.
