DESCRIPTION OF WORK

PennDOT in Clearfield is excited to offer a one-year trainee program for Engineering Technicians specializing in highway design. This program equips participants with essential skills through hands-on technical work in design, construction, and maintenance while providing a thorough understanding of departmental policies.
Training includes rotational assignments in Engineering Districts, allowing trainees to engage with district personnel and contribute to significant projects effectively. Classroom training will further enhance their expertise. All work will be closely monitored and reviewed, ensuring successful job placement that meets both employee ambitions and departmental goals upon completion. Trainees will prepare roadway, bridge, and structural plans using Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and conduct field inspections to develop notes and sketches under professional guidance. Additionally, they will apply survey principles for data collection, significantly impacting highway and bridge design and construction.. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is vendor controlled hours during your phase in construction.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
