DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for creating plans for the replacement of superstructures on plank beams, developing maintenance repair strategies, and planning for the replacement of maintenance box culverts. You will provide support to the Local Bridge Project Manager by assisting in the development of the Engineering and Construction Management System (ECMS), drafting paper agreements, and formulating federal reimbursement agreements. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring inspection costs and budgeting for inspections, as well as ensuring compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) for all inspection agreements. Additionally, you will review and approve County Maintenance work plans, as well as all local bridge inspection reports and load ratings. Your design work will encompass reinforced concrete box culverts, simple span steel bridges, reinforced concrete structures, and prestressed concrete bridges, including their foundations and substructures such as abutments and retaining walls. You will operate independently within the framework of established technical standards and specifications, and may participate in or conduct field views for minor projects to ascertain design requirements. Your duties will also involve conducting various bridge deck tests, including Pachometer, Half Cell, Chloride Ion Test, and Delamination Mapping. As the team leader during the preparation of bridge rehabilitation plans, you will inspect structural members, foundation supports, and components to determine the necessary rehabilitation work. You will prepare design submissions, including Hydrologic and Hydraulic Reports, Type, Size, and Location Reports, and Foundation Approvals, with guidance from the Squad Leader and in accordance with Design Manuals and Technical Guidelines. Furthermore, you will review design submissions from consultant engineers for completeness and accuracy, perform engineering computations and stress analyses, and engage in design work for both new structures and the rehabilitation of existing bridges. Your role will also involve maintaining and updating computer programs, conducting complex computer analyses related to hydraulics, bridge geometry, and component design, and interpreting the results for structural design while collecting data and analyzing existing bridges.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
