  • Assist or Performs in the validation of work packages, executing project MOPs with boundary partners
  • Assist or Performs in the validation and authentication of the operational performance of network systems equipment for compliance to design specifications and quality of service targets by utilizing appropriate test equipment and management platform practices
  • Assist or performs with ensuring that the installation, documentation, turn-up and maintenance of circuits and equipment conform to Cox standards.
  • Establishes network connections by Installing, terminating, and labeling cables. Installing telecommunications equipment, following industry and Cox standards.
  • Maintains internal and external customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns, answering questions. Acts as a liaison with boundary departments, vendors, and customers to correct error conditions, implement change requests and update project status
  • Must be able to communicate, collaborate and provide timely updates to all boundary partners in a professional and respectful manor
  • Responds to alarms or outage notifications; analyzes and troubleshoots problems for quick resolution working with National Operations Centers to restore service or to escalate as appropriate
  • Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements
  • Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to fire suppression, access systems, HVAC, PPE, and related topics
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt through Oracle/WATTS or other means.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications and taking advantage of other training opportunities
  • Maintains internal and external customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns, answering questions
  • Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, as well as exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Implements work orders, creates Remedy tickets, coordinates installation, activation and testing as needed in the turn up of services to ensure customer satisfaction and acceptance of circuits and services
  • Participates in the completion of PIR's (post incident report) as needed.
  • Participates in standby rotation to provide 24/7 coverage.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience
  • General knowledge of telecommunications operations and principles
  • General knowledge of basic AC/DC theory
  • Knowledge of RF, Optical and Ethernet properties and testing
  • Previous exposure to fiber optic transport technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid local State Driver's License with driving record that meets Cox standards
  • Ability to use various signal, data, fiber, and RF test equipment
  • Proficient with common Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)


Preferred

  • AS/AA or Technical Certification in related discipline desired (i.e., electronics)
  • Industry certifications (SCTE, BCT, BCE, NCTI, BICSI, Telcordia GR 1275 etc.)
  • Knowledge of signal flow layout of Telecomm Facilities
  • Working knowledge of Cox specifications as they relate to all Telecomm Facilities
  • Understanding of telecom facility and environmental planned maintenance and monitoring needs
  • General knowledge of basic operation and principles of generators, fire suppression systems and power systems


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 80 pounds regularly
  • Ability to safely climb ladders (6'-14') while carrying 40 pounds
  • Ability to work from a bucket truck or other aerial lifts
  • Ability to identify and respond quickly to sounds / alarms
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • Ability to work safely around live AC/DC Power Plant
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
  • Ability to work in extreme weather
  • Ability to stand for extended period
  • Ability to stoop over for extended period
  • Ability to kneel or work on knees for extended period


USD 31.49 - 47.26 per hour

Compensation:

Hourly base pay rate is $31.49 - $47.26/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
