This Associate Chemist position in our Coil division within the Site Support group will be responsible for a variety of exciting activities related to troubleshooting, stabilizing, and correcting external customer complaints, batch problems from manufacturing, and quality related endeavors. This position will be reporting remote management. Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. CORE RESPONSIBILITES
- Working closely with a mentor chemist to investigate and resolve customer complaints for Coil High-Performance products through prioritizing, executing and analysis of experiments and tests with clear and accurate results.
- Providing timely and accurate data to help resolve field complaints, raw material issues, manufacturing problems, and support existing and new product development
- Display a basic working knowledge of the use of chemicals, raw materials, substrate preparation and use instruments commonly found in a lab environment
- Responsible for inputting data, data analysis and technical documentation daily into lab books or a database.
- Functioning under minimal supervision and will lead individual or group projects. Product development and/or enhanced with consistent in performance and quality.
- Utilizing advanced technologies to innovatively troubleshoot issues which consumer can perceive and will desire.
- Performing basic paint making processes, meets manufactures specifications
- Performing basic coating reformulations, applications, and physical/performance testing methods
- Experience with solvent-borne and water-borne acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, and urethane chemistries
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS * Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status). * Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers. FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field. Preferred: * Degree in Polymers and Coatings KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: * Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis * Math knowledge * Chemistry knowledge Preferred: * 1 year industrial coatings Chemist lab experience TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS Required: * Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills * Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. * Excellent organization and planning skills * Team- oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment * Experience working with DOE, Minitab, Product Vision, Navigator, Microsoft Access, Excel, Word.
