Description |
The Senior Board Operator's primary responsibility is to perform all necessary functions for
the safe and efficient manufacture of intermediate and finished products. This position will
lead his team of operators ensure safe operations on his shift. Performs a variety of related
production and maintenance work, as assigned and as necessary for the efficient
operation of production |
Job Details |
Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Prepares formulated batches
- Charges and operations production vessels, reactors, and other equipment
- Operates pumps and valves to regulate chemical flows
- Maintains proper heat, pressure and cooling on all equipment
- Performs in process quality control testing of batches and raw materials
- Signs and ensures the accuracy of all information on batch sheets and electronic logs
- Maintains constant vigilance for unusual situations that may occur with batches, raw materials, finish goods or equipment
- Maintains appropriate records for inventory control of materials
- Handles hazardous materials as generated through the operations process
- Weighs, totes off, or transfers finished products and solutions to storage
- Performs general maintenance
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas to ensure plant is visitor ready at all times
- Maintains tools and equipment in good repair
- Constantly vigilant that all safety rules and procedures are being followed by Operations
- Assists other production personnel in related work within immediate work group
- Duties must be performed with precision, accuracy, and close attention to details
- Performs other duties that may be required for successful operation of the site
Compliance:
- Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
- Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
- Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

- Participates in problem-solving
- Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
- Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members
- Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3-5 years on the job in a Catalyst Operator or Chemical Operator position
- Mechanical ability and working knowledge of pipe, pipefittings, and general piping layout
- Familiarization with names of chemicals and materials contained in formulas and finished products

Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- PTEC Certification (preferred)
Experience
- Five to seven years prior industrial experience preferred. Emphasis on chemical plant operations is preferred
