Job Overview

This position is responsible for full performance complex work administering day-to-day operations of infrastructure systems, services, data systems and storage environments. Duties include designing, configuring, and maintaining the performance, availability, capacity, and security of operating systems, client systems, servers and storage systems, and enterprise platforms, managing system backups and restores, troubleshooting, and documenting procedures, processes, and policies. This position may perform lead work over lower-level staff.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working with a team to solve issues and prevent outages. This role requires understanding and ensuring alignment with business and security needs, while having the ability to develop technical documentation and summarize complex data and information in a succinct and compelling manner. It is expected that the right candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills and is team and customer focused.

Additional Information

Department: Infrastructure Technology Services
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Work hours may vary depending on the need of the department. This position does require on-call rotation and occasional night and weekend maintenance. There could be holiday coverage if there is a critical outage.

*This role is considered hybrid but does have some onsite expectations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree is required.
EXPERIENCE - Minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required.
EQUIVALENCY - Combination of post-high school education, job related certification, and/or related experience equivalent to nine (9) years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Linux administration, configuration management, and monitoring skills
  • Storage experience (Block Storage, NAS technologies, SAN Fabric and switches)
  • Experience with enterprise backups, hypervisor/VMware management and configuration
  • Experience with Cisco UCS
  • Shell/Python scripting experience
  • DevOps and container support experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Leads the day-to-day operational support and data integrity for computer operating systems, server environments (both private and public cloud), data storage systems, enterprise imaging, email system, enterprise development platforms, data integration, data backup and recovery systems, application/desktop delivery, directory services and data access security.
  • Designs, installs, configures, administers and maintains operating systems, client systems, servers, and storage environments.
  • Oversees and participates in the testing, implementation, maintenance, documentation, and development of operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Executes complex enterprise system functional and technical designs, capacity planning, and implementation.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains data interfaces and the interface engine that manipulates the interface messages in production and non-production environments.
  • Plans and performs complex software installations/deployments and upgrades to operating systems and multi-tiered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades.
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance, availability, and capacity levels. Implements and manages software and hardware solutions to ensure client systems and server data integrity and security. Participates in capacity planning.
  • Schedules and implements system backups, restores, and database archive operations. Ensures data and media recoverability. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
  • Actively collaborates with information technology staff, project managers and end users to gather, develop and implement customer requirements.
  • Creates and maintains processes, policies and procedures in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database library of all supporting documentation. Develops training and documentation for Tier 1 support staff.
  • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of client systems and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Supports and collaborates in the development of ITIL processes including change, incident, and problem management. Conducts RCAs following significant service incidents.
  • Troubleshoots system failures and problems and provides technical support. Engages customers and vendors to ensure problem resolution.
  • Participates in vendor and technology selection. Collaborates with other teams to develop plans and budgets for future upgrades.
  • Operationally manages infrastructure projects
  • Participates in on-call responsibilities.
  • Expands technology knowledge through personal learning and growth. May share new knowledge through on-site presentations and "lunch-and-learn" sessions.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $94,871.97 to $142,307.96
Hourly Salary Range: $45.61 to $68.42
