Norris' Group Care Programs provide treatment, educational, and therapeutic recreational services to youth ages 8 through 18 and their families. Youth receive services related to mental health, emotional behavioral disorders, problematic sexualized behaviors, AODA, and trauma, including physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect. Under the direction of the Campus Manager, the Youth Advocacy Coordinator (YAC) at River's Edge Campus (REC) will support the milieu of the Overnight shift. The YAC will take the lead on providing oversight of the youth experience and operations of the campus based on the program philosophy, schedules, policies, protocols and procedures, licensing requirements, placing agency expectations, and best practice standards. Assists youth with social skills development and mentoring. Provide guidance related to stress management, personal problems, emergency, or home situations, and provide insight into responsible behavior and attitudes. Documenting and meeting with youth weekly, one on one monthly meetings, transition meetings, behavior concerns meeting, and creating a behavior plan for youth to promote prosocial behaviors in the resident halls. YAC's are responsible for collaborating with REC staff to provide a positive campus experience for all youth.

The YAC serves as a role model and coach for employees as they interact with youth according to their plans (i.e., treatment, guidance, learning, etc.), consistently demonstrates trauma-informed principles, uses and teaches de-escalation techniques, and serves as an overall resource for the REC group care program. The YAC also serves as the point person for communication, keeping track of youth on or off campus, medication administration, and for handling crises by delegating responsibilities or directly handling emergent needs. The YAC effectively and efficiently communicates youth program recommendations to Clinicians, Hall Supervisors, Managers, and Director of Group Care.
