The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is seeking a highly organized and experienced Operations Manager to play a crucial role in supporting the Division of Clinical Research and Analytics (CRA). This position is funded through collaborators that have committed to support the study. Continuation of this position therefore is contingent upon funding being available.

Remote candidates welcome or primary location in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage budget activities for the Division of Clinical Research and Analytics (CRA) by liaising with ASCO's Finance department to develop budget proposals, projections and allocations as well as monitoring contractual and financial obligations.

  • Lead all volunteer group activities for the CRA Division committees including recruitment, renewals, charter development and updates, preparations for committee selection and board submissions and liaising with Volunteer Services, study leadership and governance.

  • Lead execution of various contracts and related documents for the CRA division including pharma, vendors and independent contractor agreements.

  • Lead study organization activitiessuch as development of SOPs and operations processes and serve as project manager for study-related projects for theDivision of Clinical Research and Analytics by creating timelines, tracking progress, anticipating project needs and streamlining efficiencies, where possible.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop members of the Operations team supporting Division of Clinical Research and Analytics.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent years of experience

  • 6+ years of operations experience including budget and contract management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and applications

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree or other advanced training in relevant clinical, administrative, health sciences or related fields

  • Prior experience working in healthcare or non-profit administration

  • Experience managing clinical trial study operations

  • Experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment utilizing Smartsheet or other project management tools

Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, with ability to clearly convey and receive information

  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated experience in multi-tasking and managing time effectively to meet deliverables

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and work independently to complete a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment

  • Commitment to work within a team to meet timelines and deliverables

  • Aptitude for quantitative reasoning

Work Environment

Fast-paced office environment with extended periods seated or standing at a desk

High use of computer and other office technology equipment.
