Summary Under the direction of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent, this role is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating various installation, repair, and maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include overseeing required work to be completed efficiently and safely, stocking necessary materials, properly maintaining equipment, and ensuring the correct installation, repair, and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems adhered to established trade methods and procedures. Assume the role of Water/Wastewater Superintendent as required. Work collaboratively with the Water/Wastewater Superintendent to ensure optimal utilization of employees and available resources. Assist with the preparation of projects and ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Plan, organize, assign, and supervise the work of water utilities personal, including daily work schedules and special projects. Supervise the safety training, tasks, and advancement of employees. Oversee project safety and investigate any incidents involving employees. Read and interpret utility maps, record drawings, asset data, maintenance manuals, and specifications. Work with other Foreman to plan and complete required work. Oversee purchasing equipment, parts, and supplies for inventory or immediate use. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. Work outside normal working hours as needed to correct any problems that arise within the water utilities. This includes responding to emergency call-ins, which can occur any time, day, or night. Work cooperatively with other departments, contractors, and regulatory agencies to coordinate activities, exchange information, and resolve problems. Maintain and diagnose problems within the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Notify the Water/Wastewater Superintendent, Water/Wastewater Manager, and other authorities as necessary in emergency situations. Ensure all work complies with TCEQ and other applicable standards and regulations. Must know and follow safety instructions and maintain housekeeping procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma Valid Class "A" CDL Texas Driver's License with Tanker endorsement. Three or more years' experience in water utilities. TCEQ Class C water distribution license TCEQ Class II wastewater collection license
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience:
Three or more years of lead or supervisory experience in water utilities. TCEQ Class B water distribution license TCEQ Class III wastewater collection license TCEQ Customer service inspector license
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of water utility maintenance and repairs Ability to supervise crews and assess employee performance Comprehensive knowledge of Cityworks software Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations. Skill with Microsoft Office computer applications Advanced communication skills Handle stress effectively without it interfering with performance. Conflict resolution.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Frequent work performed outside or with exposure to risk including exposure to hazardous chemicals, raw sewage, communicable diseases, loud or constant noise, electricity, humidity, wetness, extreme temperatures, heights, odors, gases, mists, confined spaces, climbing ladders, cramped spaces, and inherent construction related hazards. Position is subject to 24-hour call out, 365 days per year.
