Job Summary

As an Environmental Services Manager, you will be responsible for directing and supervising the operational needs of the EVS department at My Michigan Saginaw Hospital. You will coordinate the tasks of the 30+ associates and assist in training and development. You will serve as a liaison between administration and unit departments and provide the highest possible level of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling, hiring, training, coaching, and onboarding associates
  • Completes daily rounding of assigned areas
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, controls labor goals, and meets turnaround times
  • Communicates with nurse managers and department leaders ensuring quality service
  • Ensure the associates are completing their daily assignments to maintain a clean and sanitized environment for patients and visitors
  • Maintains a high level focus on meeting regulatory standards and safety goals
  • Coordinates housekeeping activities with other departments
  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises departmental functions and activities
  • Establishes work standards and work flow
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
  • Additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Housekeeping, janitorial, or environmental services experience
  • Support services, military, and/or facilities maintenance experience
  • 1 or more years of supervisory/management experience preferably in a hospital environment
  • Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations
  • Ability to use a participative approach to managing staff
  • Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions
  • CRCST or other applicable sterile processing certification is preferred
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
