TITLE: Database Specialist

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Develop, maintain, and optimize in-house applications to support seamless data integration, facilitate message dissemination, and enhance operational efficiency within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, OR equivalent significant work experience in IT and application development.
• Proficiency in developing and maintaining applications using .NET/Python/MySQL.
• Experience in programming, testing, and troubleshooting applications to ensure smooth data flow across systems.
• Adequate understanding of database administration, data management, and data synchronization techniques.
• Ability to analyze and resolve software-related issues in production and field environments.
• Experience providing IT helpdesk support and resolving technical issues for end-users.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to document programs and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Ability to implement message dissemination systems within applications.
• Demonstrated commitment to flexibility to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Ability to manage job-related stress and foster a productive work environment.
• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Report to the IT Manager and work collaboratively with other IT staff to maintain and enhance software applications.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain computer programs to ensure seamless data exchange between systems, including MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and internal databases.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and modify applications to meet user requirements.
• Develop and maintain data synchronization and integration programs, ensuring efficient data transfer between IBM/AS400 and local databases to support production processes.
• Provide 24/7 technical support to ensure system continuity and resolve critical issues as they arise.
• Focus on database development tasks, such as creating Views and Stored Procedures based on application requirements to optimize system efficiency.
• Serve as an IT helpdesk support resource, diagnosing and resolving software and hardware-related issues for end-users.
• Implement structured programming techniques to develop efficient and maintainable code.
• Ensure compliance with software development best practices, company policies, and industry regulations.
• Perform additional technical duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or IT Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

• Inside, protected from weather
• Temperature controlled
• Subject to noise, moving machinery, and/or electrical currents
• Possible exposure to some chemicals, gases, high heat
• Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, and dusts
