As a DevOps engineer intern, you know the challenges that software engineers face and ultimately, know how to help teams with their software development lifecycle. We're looking for a DevOps engineer intern with a strong background in development to support our products while modernizing their SDLC and meeting their most challenging initiatives.
As a DevOps engineer intern at Credit Acceptance, you'll work closely with cloud architects and engineers to build automation solutions to SDLC challenges. You'll grow your skills within a DevOps framework to establish and create SDLC solutions to further our products.
With access to our internal sandbox, there's no better place to develop your skills and explore different ways of solving DevOps challenges. Whether developing, deploying, or managing crucial code, compute, and network components, here, you'll have the latest technology and brightest engineering teammates at your fingertips.
Outcomes and Activities:
- This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
- Define and adhere to standards, procedures and methodologies for effective operation, performance, security, and recovery of automation systems
- Accelerate Engineering projects and maintenance by automating manual processes
- Participate in efforts to both reduce the impact of and the time to recover from application issues
- Participate in code reviews and communicate application changes
- Debug the problems which arise in production
- Assist with unit-tests and validate acceptance criteria
- Develop tools to satisfy customer requirements
- Support integration with engineering tools
- Ensure automated systems are highly available and fault tolerant
- Contribute to team's sprint commitments and actively participate in our Agile practices
- Document code and projects so others can easily understand, maintain and support
- Learn the business process domain to better support the business
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or closely related field of study
- Conceptual understanding and use of one or more object-oriented programming languages
- Experience working in a team environment
Preferred:
- Experience with Cloud, Linux and/or Windows environments and commands
- Experience with test automation frameworks (JUnit API, Robot, Cucumber, SpecFlow, etc.)
- Ability to navigate source code solutions & knowledge of branching strategies (BitBucket, GitHub Enterprise, Subversion, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Conceptual knowledge working with infrastructure as code and related tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, etc.).
- Understand basic design techniques and ability to create simple scripts in languages like Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, Node, Go, or Terraform
Knowledge and Skills:
- Show initiative and the desire to learn new technologies
- Be introspective and open to feedback to continuously improve; prioritize personal development and identify potential barriers
- Show emerging critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate technical information (both verbal and written).
