As an intern, you will support the democratization of ML/AI and its applications within Credit Acceptance. Your role will involve assisting in ensuring that these technologies remain accessible, robust, trustworthy, scalable, and cost-efficient. You will work closely with our team and internal customers, optimizing solutions to meet their needs by delivering incremental value and solving their problems. Your internship will provide you with the opportunity to learn and contribute to the future of machine learning within a rapidly growing team.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
  • Assist in identifying and building solutions for various GenAI problems.
  • Support the end-to-end lifecycle of ML and AI projects, from scoping and adaptation to application integration, monitoring, and performance management.
  • Aid in the investigation of ML and AI methodologies, including deep learning, LLM, and graph NN, to address diverse challenges across different business verticals and customers.
  • Help build and deploy contextual Chatbots and analytical tools to provide bespoke responses to internal and external customers across different platforms.
  • Participate in the development and fine-tuning of LLM models trained on internal multi-modal data (e.g., documents, policies, PDFs, graphs, text) for new problem sets.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a culture of widespread ML utilization.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a graduate level degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a relevant technical field.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning models, reinforcement algorithms, or recommendation systems.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new skills in a practical setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.

Preferred:

  • Currently pursuing a master's or PhD degree
  • Well awareness and experience of using techniques across LLM models, data mining, NLP, or computer vision through coursework or personal projects.
  • Knowledge of basic programming languages (e.g., Python) and machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to solve problems by offering simple, practical solutions.
  • Promptness in responding to tasks and projects.
  • Ability to build trust and relationships within the organization.
  • Capability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Targeted Compensation: $23/hour
