How brave are you? We are a high-tech company providing machine tools and laser technology, and are looking for people who can face new challenges with a fresh mind. As an independent family company, we offer you the freedom and trust to put your brave ideas into practice. With you on board, we would like to power ahead with the digital networking of the manufacturing industry. Our passion and creative drive ensure that we are an innovative force - across the globe at over 80 TRUMPF locations.

The photo process engineer will take the lead in developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting photolithography processes used in semiconductor laser fabrication. You will be responsible for maintaining high tool performance, process stability, and driving yield improvements while working closely with cross-functional teams in a cleanroom environment. This position requires hands-on experience in photolithography and the ability to independently manage and improve processes.

Process Engineer Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process Ownership: Lead the development, optimization, and control of photolithography processes, including mask design, photoresist coating, exposure, and development for GaAs wafers.
  • Tool Performance and Management: Oversee the calibration, qualification, and maintenance of photolithography tools (steppers, mask aligners, track systems, mask cleaner) to ensure consistent high performance. Proactively identify and address tool issues to minimize downtime.
  • Process Optimization and Yield Improvement:
    • Independently identify opportunities to improve process stability, yield, and productivity.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process enhancement, defect reduction, and cycle time reduction.
  • Defect Characterization and Troubleshooting:
    • Perform root-cause analysis on process defects and deviations, proposing corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with failure analysis teams to investigate and resolve yield-impacting issues related to photolithography processes.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze process and equipment data to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring processes are in control and aligned with manufacturing goals.
    • Present findings and process changes to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Process Integration:
    • Collaborate with other process engineering teams (etching, thin film deposition, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of photolithography steps within the overall wafer fabrication process.

Experience/Education

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in photolithography processing in a semiconductor wafer fab environment
  • Proven track record of process development, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Strong expertise in photolithography tools, including steppers, mask aligners, and photoresist processing
  • Proficiency with mask design software is required
  • Experience with SAS JMP, Minitab or other statistical software package is required
  • Processing experience in the areas of Epitaxy, Photolithography, Wet Process, Thin Films, or Wafer Thinning is desired
  • Prior experience as a process/equipment owner supporting high volume manufacturing is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Statistical Process control/Design of experiment/six-sigma/problem solving preferred
