BIM Engineer
Location: Taylor, Texas (In-Office Position)
Greenberry Industrial is seeking a skilled and experienced BIM Engineer to join our dynamic team in Taylor, Texas. Position Overview:
As a BIM Engineer, you will play a key technical role in our industrial projects, specializing in structural steel, process mechanical piping, equipment layouts, and fabrication-level modeling. You will leverage advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows to enhance coordination, improve constructability, and support project execution from design through construction. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, with expertise in piping systems, structural detailing, and clash detection.
Key Responsibilities:
BIM Model Development & Coordination
- Develop and manage BIM models for industrial piping, structural steel, mechanical equipment, and supports.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, fabricators, and field teams to create accurate, fabrication-ready models.
- Perform clash detection and coordinate model resolutions using Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Support construction sequencing (4D BIM) and quantity take-offs (5D BIM).
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to integrate shop drawings and vendor-supplied models into project BIM workflows.
Technical Drawing & Documentation
- Generate detailed isometric piping drawings, spool drawings, structural steel layouts, and general arrangement drawings.
- Conduct quality control (QC) checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, adherence to industry standards, and constructability.
- Extract bills of materials (BOMs), weld maps, and fabrication cut lists from BIM models.
Field & Construction Support
- Assist field teams by providing installation drawings, lift plans, and work packages.
- Utilize laser scanning and point cloud data to validate existing conditions and enhance model accuracy.
- Coordinate as-built documentation for turnover packages and future maintenance.
Process Improvement & Technology Advancement
- Continuously optimize BIM workflows, automation tools, and digital construction methods.
- Stay up to date with BIM software advancements, industry best practices, and construction technology trends.
- Train and mentor junior team members on BIM standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in BIM modeling for industrial construction (structural steel, process piping, heavy industrial projects).
- Strong proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Tekla Structures, and/or other relevant BIM software.
- Experience in clash detection, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Knowledge of industrial piping systems, structural steel detailing, mechanical supports, and equipment layouts.
- Ability to read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), structural drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Familiarity with laser scanning, point cloud processing, and as-built modeling (preferred).
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
