Position Overview:

As a BIM Engineer, you will play a key technical role in our industrial projects, specializing in structural steel, process mechanical piping, equipment layouts, and fabrication-level modeling. You will leverage advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows to enhance coordination, improve constructability, and support project execution from design through construction.

This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, with expertise in piping systems, structural detailing, and clash detection.

Key Responsibilities: BIM Model Development & Coordination
  • Develop and manage BIM models for industrial piping, structural steel, mechanical equipment, and supports.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, fabricators, and field teams to create accurate, fabrication-ready models.
  • Perform clash detection and coordinate model resolutions using Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Support construction sequencing (4D BIM) and quantity take-offs (5D BIM).
  • Work with vendors and subcontractors to integrate shop drawings and vendor-supplied models into project BIM workflows.
Technical Drawing & Documentation
  • Generate detailed isometric piping drawings, spool drawings, structural steel layouts, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Conduct quality control (QC) checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, adherence to industry standards, and constructability.
  • Extract bills of materials (BOMs), weld maps, and fabrication cut lists from BIM models.
Field & Construction Support
  • Assist field teams by providing installation drawings, lift plans, and work packages.
  • Utilize laser scanning and point cloud data to validate existing conditions and enhance model accuracy.
  • Coordinate as-built documentation for turnover packages and future maintenance.
Process Improvement & Technology Advancement
  • Continuously optimize BIM workflows, automation tools, and digital construction methods.
  • Stay up to date with BIM software advancements, industry best practices, and construction technology trends.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on BIM standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in BIM modeling for industrial construction (structural steel, process piping, heavy industrial projects).
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Tekla Structures, and/or other relevant BIM software.
  • Experience in clash detection, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Knowledge of industrial piping systems, structural steel detailing, mechanical supports, and equipment layouts.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), structural drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Familiarity with laser scanning, point cloud processing, and as-built modeling (preferred).
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
