We are currently seeking intern/co-op candidates to learn with us as they engage in a variety of hands-on projects alongside our high-performing and authentic R&D team.

Position Summary

The Machine Learning Software Engineering Co-op will support the development, testing, and integration of machine-learning algorithms for medical devices. This individual will work closely with our principal and senior-level engineers to develop tests for medical devices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, prototype, develop, and test machine-learning based image segmentation and object detection algorithms
• Design dataset labeling GUI tools in Python/MATLAB
• Support the integration of machine learning algorithms to products
• Documentation for all phases of product development
• Routine communication with peers and supervisors including documentation of work, meetings, and decisions

Training to be Provided

Students will be exposed to working with various product development and R&D departments within the Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT) organization. They will learn key requirements which need to be followed in a regulated environment such as the medical device industry.

Additionally, our interns and co-ops benefit from a buddy program, career development programming, and opportunities to build their professional networks virtually and in-person with BMT professionals.

Required:

• Background in image and signal processing
• Depth of knowledge in deep neural networks such as CNN
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Pytorch)
• Knowledge/experience with Python programming
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Passion to learn and good attitude

Preferred:

• Graduate students (either M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Knowledge/experience developing GUI applications in MATLAB and PyQT
• Experience implementing dataset processing pipelines for machine learning applications
• Experience contributing to Azure DevOps projects
• Experience with image processing algorithms
• Proficiency in MATLAB

Job Location

• Pleasanton, CA (mostly remote but occasionally in-person at the Pleasanton office)

Term/Hours

• Term: Spring/Summer/Fall of 2025 start, 2-3 semester rotation, can be consecutive or non-consecutive semesters.
• Hours: 20 hours per week during the semester, and 40 hours per week during the summer
