Job Summary

Job Summary

Registered Nurses in the Transplant Metabolic department at UC Davis Medical Center provide care to adult and pediatric with a variety of medical surgical needs. Patient conditions include: Pre-op and Post-op care of Renal/Liver transplant patients. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily twenty-four (24) hour planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by: providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.

The Nurse Manager assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, supports research, participates in both long and short term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Patient Care Services.

  • A valid California Registered Nurse License
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing management experience required.

Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area 5. Full command (verbal and written) of the English language. 7. Maintains flexible scheduling as required by workload and departmental needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification of field of practice preferred (if appropriate)
  • Transplant experience preferred.

Tower 8 Transplant-Metabolic Unit is a 28-bed acute care unit. The unit provides advanced assessment and specialized care for patients undergoing solid organ transplant (kidney, liver, pediatric kidney). Additionally, care is provided for telemetry, pulmonary hypertension, urologic surgery, oncology and a wide variety of medical-surgical patients.
