As a Trainer, you will train employees on the safe use of material handling equipment and teach fellow employees the accurate execution of distribution center processes and procedures. When opportunities to train are not available, the certified trainer will perform material handler duties as directed by the operations team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Trains employees on job specific and general distribution center processes and procedures
  • Trains employees on the safe operation of facility material handling equipment
  • Ensures that employees are trained in an accurate, consistent manner
  • Sets a positive safety example in the distribution center
  • Utilizes RF units and pick tickets, and receiving documentation
  • Builds stable, well-built and accurate pallet loads for shipment
  • Ensures item pick accuracy and safety of product to prevent damage
  • Understands pallet layers, heights, and counting methods used when working with pallets of product
  • Reads and understands product descriptions, packaging and pick ticket messages
  • Consistently meets established company production and service level standards
  • Utilizes good housekeeping processes
  • Utilizes effective food safety measures
  • Utilizes warehouse processes to minimize damage and other areas of waste
  • Informs supervisor of any differences in case quantity and/or product description
  • Wraps the pallet by circling load with roll of plastic wrap until secure
  • Housekeeping during and at the end of shifts
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree required
  • Previous experience in a training role preferred
  • Certification on all facility material handling equipment and processes preferred
  • Capable of communicating clearly and concisely in written and oral formats
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds continually during shift
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and other required materials handling equipment (MHE)

Physical Demands: You will be constantly standing, walking, riding, carrying, twisting, bending, balancing, seeing, hearing, and handling paperwork. You will regularly be lifting objects weighing from less than 20 lbs. to 60 lbs.
