The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health is seeking applications for a full-time Data Programmer and Analyst to work on health services and epidemiology research projects focused on the relationship between social inequities and health, namely Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. The Data Programmer and Analyst will be supervised by Dr. Zinzi Bailey, Associate Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health. The Data Programmer and Analyst will join the Bailey Structural Inequities and Transdisciplinary Health (SITH) Lab, an interdisciplinary team that investigates structural determinants of cancer risk, HIV, aging, and mental health.

An ideal candidate will have training in analyzing multilevel, time-varying longitudinal data (especially Medicare and other medical claims data) and conducting meditation analyses with a demonstrated interest in health inequities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Create and manage large databases.
2. Conduct advanced statistical analyses utilizing multilevel and/or longitudinal data utilizing health care claims data.
3. Contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts and grants.
4. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including collaborators outside of the university.
5. Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Data management, analyses, dissemination - 70%
Manuscript development - 20%
Collaboration with research team(s) - 10%

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS and at least 4 years of experience or advanced degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a combination of relevant work experience to equal at least eight years
  • Experience in effectively working with individuals from diverse cultures and populations
  • Experience with conducting statistical analyses using Stata, SAS, or other similar programming languages
  • Demonstrated commitment to investigating social determinants of racial/ethnic inequities in health
  • Excellent data management skills
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in SAS, Stata, or R programming to analyze multilevel and/or longitudinal data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines

Preferred:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Medical Sociology, or related quantitative field
  • Experience analyzing health care claims data using SAS/SQL or similar methods
  • Familiarity with obtaining U.S. Census and other administrative data

The Division of Epidemiology & Community Health focuses on disease and health in various populations. Our faculty and students examine the distribution, cause and prevention of diseases, and how human behavior affects overall health.

The division offers MPH, MS and PhD degrees, as well as dual and joint degrees.

The work of epidemiologists spreads across sectors and areas of study, so our division and faculty are often partnering with other research entities and community organizations on public health research and interventions. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $38.47 - 39.91 per hour (equivalent of $80,017.60 - $83,012.80 annually); depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
