Railroad Maintenance Worker
Location: Fort Leonard Wood, MO

Position Summary:
Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) is seeking a Railroad Maintenance Worker to be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of railroad tracks, infrastructure, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient train operations.
**Position is contingent upon award of contract.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
*Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on railroad tracks including replacing worn-out or damaged rails, ties, and spikes
*Maintain and repair other railroad infrastructure components, including switches, signals, bridges, and crossings to ensure safe operations
*Assist in the construction and installation of new track sections, ties, and associated components as part of expansion or improvement projects
*Operate specialized maintenance machinery, such as rail grinders, ballast regulators, and track-laying equipment to ensure the proper condition of the railroad
*Ensure proper alignment and grading of the ballast supporting the track, performing adjustments as needed
*Regularly inspect track conditions for signs of wear, defects, and hazards; reporting findings to supervisors and making necessary repairs
*Adhere to safety standers
*Respond to track-related emergencies or incidents
Education & Experience Requirements:
*High School Diploma or equivalent
*Previous experience in railroad construction, maintenance, or similar role
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
*Ability to operate rail maintenance machinery, power tools, and hand tools
*Basic understanding of railroad track systems, safety standards, and maintenance practices
*Familiarity with track inspection and testing equipment
*Basic knowledge of railroad signaling and electrical systems
*Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, track layouts, and maintenance manuals
*Ability to work independently and in a team environment
*Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
*Strong communication skills
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
*Involves shift work that can include on-call requirements for emergency situations
*Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required depending on the needs of the facility
*Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions
*Work may be required in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
*Will involve walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending for extended periods of time
*May be required to work in confined spaces
*Work may involve lifting and moving of heavy items, up to 50 lbs
*Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment
