Overview

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Senior Engineer will support the EHS Staff in maintaining policies/procedures required to adhere to regulatory standards as well as company programs. The EHS Engineer will provide support for the site's EHS programs including general industry safety standards, exposure control programs (industrial hygiene/ergonomics), environmental protection, risk assessments, as well as any associated evaluations, inspections, training, and recordkeeping necessary to promote the safest work environment possible. The EHS Engineer will also participate in hands-on EHS activities like inspections, hazardous materials handling, etc. The right candidate will have an EHS generalist background and experience, great organizational skills, an understanding of reporting metrics, and drive continuous improvement by engaging the site's other business stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Program support in the fields of occupational safety, ergonomics, exposure control, environmental protection and emergency preparedness program components, including written procedures and work instructions.
  • Ability to identify and assess various exposure risk factors and solutions (job safety analysis).
  • Management and continual improvement of environmental programs including industrial wastewater, hazardous waste, air emissions and storm water compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in EHS culture and performance thorough proactive engagement with employees and leadership.
  • Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans for EHS-related incidents.
  • Oversight and project management of EHS projects as needed.
  • Perform EHS inspections of work areas, lead EHS audits, and participate in Leadership EHS GEMBAs.
  • Develop and implement proactive measures, training, and policies to prevent injuries, environmental impacts, and regulatory involvement.
  • Help EHS Tech where needed in competing hands-on tasks tied to waste management and other responsibilities in support of the EHS department.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and education on EHS matters.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Studies, Occupational Safety, or other EHS related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in EHS field.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Ability to review and compare data to identify trends and determine priorities; ability to deal with incident and accident details to determine root cause and corrective action; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to manage time effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate (verbally & written) effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Write reports and present information and respond to questions from individuals and managers, internal and external customers, particularly as it applies to training.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
