Primary Function

Join A.O. Smith's North America Water Treatment team and gain unparalleled experience at the innovative nucleus of the organization. As a Certification and Regulatory Affairs Co-op, you will work alongside our certification and regulatory affairs team to learn the in-depth regulatory compliance and product certification processes. You will work closely with the Certification Specialist, various departments nationwide, and external agencies to ensure our products meet regulatory and industry standards.

This role is an excellent opportunity for co-operative (co-op) education students who are passionate and are eager to gain real world, hands-on experience under the leadership and mentorship of our water treatment subject matter experts.

Responsibilities
  • Certification Coordination: Support internal tasks for ongoing and future certification efforts, assist in pre-certification design and troubleshooting, and maintain certification documents with accuracy and clarity.
  • Regulatory Research and Communication: Research and stay up to date on applicable and potential regulations and certifications changes, to understand applicable requirements
  • Technical Review and Compliance: Review technical test reports to ensure they meet standards and requirements
  • Liaison and Representation: Act as contact between third-party certification agencies (NSF, WQA, IAPMO, and international agencies) and A. O. Smith, and assist with Regulatory Affairs within the New Product Development Teams to ensure all regulatory requirements are met throughout the development process.
  • Test Plans and Certification Applications: Propose regulatory test plans, and prepare product certification applications, supporting documentation, and physical samples for submission to independent test laboratories.
  • Database and Project Management: Maintain the product certification database
  • Professional Conduct and Additional Duties: Conduct oneself professionally and in accordance with A. O. Smith values, and perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification processes is a plus.
Education
High School Diploma or GED in Related Field
