Position Summary: The Johnson County Loan Relationship Assistant is responsible for the relationship development and customer service for Kansas commercial loan customers and for coordinating the pre-closing transaction between all involved parties from application through closing and maintaining customer loan files. This role is eligible for hybrid work from home opportunity under the work from home guidelines up to one day per week upon completion of onboarding.

Essential Functions:



  • Works closely with and supports loan officers by coordinating all steps of the loan transaction from application to closing.
  • Works with attorney-prepared loans. Communicates closely with loan officer, attorney, and legal assistant to ensure documents are prepared according to the approved transaction and complies with bank requirements. If necessary, coordinates transaction with internal counsel.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of all bank policies including bank loan policy, government regulations, and compliance requirements involving commercial lending.
  • Support loan officers by coordinating all steps of the loan transaction, from application to closing including loan document preparation.
  • Complete borrower checklist and documentation request packet checklist.
  • Ensure proper approval for note requests and any variances from loan presentation summary prior to document preparation.
  • Communicate with loan officer and customer to determine closing date.
  • Assemble documentation request packet completely, and ensure adherence to all bank policies, including bank loan policy, government regulations, and compliance requirements, as well as matching terms of commitment letters if applicable. Communicate with loan officer and/or customer to gather any deficiencies.
  • Prepare closed loans for funding and send to be input.
  • Completes Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) worksheet, pulls credit reports and flood determinations, performs Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) searches/filings, completes Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC) and has good standing reports with state, and finalizes various other compliance related functions.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customer in person, on the phone, via email, and through written correspondence. Answer questions and refer inquiries when necessary.
  • Process payments: review and process non-sufficient funds (NSF), non-posts, loan disbursements, participation transactions, draw requests, payoff calculations, and wires.
  • Service existing loan files including borrowing base calculations, covenant compliance, financials, initiate renewals/extensions as loans mature, late payments and other portfolio management, work with officers/customers to clear exceptions off pending reports and servicing that includes customer contact as needed.
  • Serve as back-up to other loan operation assistants as needed.
  • In the Customer Service Representative's absence, assist with running customer deposits, cashing checks, processing lockbox activity, checking mail, running coin machine, servicing ATM, and sending out loan notices.
  • Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
  • Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending and loan requirements, loan documentation, collateral evaluation, lien perfection, and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Minimum of two years commercial loan experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and in working with other bank software.

Working Environment:

Indoor work - not exposed to outdoor elements or hazards.
