Your work will directly influence the discovery and development of novel veterinary therapeutics and biomarkers and ensure Zoetis remains at the forefront of innovation in animal healthcare.

Position Summary

This role will be responsible for integrating multi-modal biological data (e.g., genomics, proteomics, in vivo/in vitro models) and advanced analytics to accelerate discovery pipelines and provide deeper insights into target biology, biomarkers, and therapeutic mechanisms of action. As a senior leader within the Automation and Data Sciences group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the biological digital and data strategy for VMRD, driving innovation in experimental biology, and supporting the broader R&D initiatives at Zoetis. This role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to generate actionable insights and improve the efficacy of therapeutic development pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, integration, and execution of applied biological analytics for data integration and interpretation, leveraging data from diverse sources (multi-omics, in vitro, and in vivo models), to generate impactful data, identify translational opportunities, evaluate targets and biomarkers and refine therapeutic hypotheses.
  • Lead comprehensive research, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of external scientific data, with a focus on publications, patents, presentations, and clinical trial results, staying at the forefront of latest scientific developments and digital approaches.
  • Drive the implementation and scaling of automated biological workflows, ensuring high data integrity, reproducibility, and throughput to meet program goals.
  • Collaborate with project teams, bioinformaticians, and data scientists to develop experimental designs that align with automated workflows and ensure seamless integration of biology and data sciences across departments.
  • Utilize output from advanced computational methods, including machine learning and AI, to analyze complex biological datasets and generate predictive models for therapeutic success.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists, fostering a collaborative environment and driving scientific excellence within the team.
  • Present biological insights, data analyses, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, supporting decision-making across R&D.

Desired Qualifications

Education: PhD or DVM in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related field with 7+ years of experience in translational biology, systems biology, or related domains with strong foundation/background experience with applied data analytics and handling and interpretation of multimodal data.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in applying digital and automation tools in biological research, with a focus on translating biological data into actionable insights for therapeutic development.
  • Good understanding of experimental techniques and different types of data generated by biological sciences (e.g. bulk and single cell RNA-sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, Quantigene, etc).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in biological data analysis, bioinformatics, and the application of automation in experimental biology.
  • Proficiency with data visualization and analysis tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, JMP, Biorender) and familiarity with AI/machine learning for biological applications.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead scientific projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Communication:

  • Strong ability to distill complex biological data into clear and actionable insights for diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
