GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Senior DBA, the DBA Specialist, IT Manager, or the Director: manages and maintains all production and non-production databases, software systems and third party IT products. The IT DBA contributes to planning, design, development, release management, troubleshooting and support of database components, software systems and third-party IT products. This position is responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration. The responsibilities also include troubleshooting application issues and/or data issues when they arise. You will communicate solutions, issues, and risks directly with technical management or other responsible entities. The DBA ensures appropriate security, backup, and recovery on Database Management Systems; configures database parameters; prototypes designs against logical data models; defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. This individual optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost. The DBA supports multiple services and multiple databases of low to medium complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data. The DBA is part of an IT team that is accountable for production support (including on-call duties in a 24x7 environment) as well as new projects. The ideal candidate will have experience using analytical skills to seek out, research and evaluate a variety of options to provide clients with high quality, efficient business processes and solutions that promote efficiency and enterprise-wide standardization.
