About the role:

CLA is seeking an Associate Director of Investment Banking to join our investment banking team. This job will be working in either our Minneapolis, MN or Oak Brook, IL office. This role leads or co-leads the pitching and execution of mergers & acquisition (M&A) engagements for predominately sell-side clients from start to finish. This role is also responsible for a wide range of supervisory, advisory, and consultant duties encompassed in investment banking services and corporate finance transactions to clients.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Leads or co-leads the execution of mergers & acquisition deals, and support account coverage with potential primary coverage responsibilities. Analyzes detailed corporate and financial information, as well as overseeing and conducting due diligence. Performs valuations, discounted cash flow, pro forma merger, precedent transaction, and comparable companies' analyses. Prepares pitch books, live deal materials, including confidential information memoranda, management presentations, support valuation conclusions, and other similar materials.
  • Supervisory: Supervises a team of associates and analysts, as well as training and developing junior team members. Reviews financial modeling and analyses prepared by analysts and associates. Approves schedules with external and internal participation, along with logistics for investment banking related duties.
  • Client Relationships: Develops and fosters deep client relationships through deal execution, pitching, and primary support coverage. Leads client meetings. Maintains active interaction with the clients' senior executive management teams and board members throughout the M&A process. Provides strong M&A proficiency to advise on a full range of corporate transactions while marketing the value of CLA's experience across business sectors.
  • Logistics Oversight: Identifies buyers for sell-side clients, and oversees team responsible for tracking and analyzing buyer information on buyers. Utilizes critical thinking skills to quickly evaluate and analyze companies and financial information.

Requirements:

Experience:

7 years of experience in middle market M&A advisory, including front-line execution experience

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Management and/or Accounting or related

required (combination of education and experience may be considered a degree equivalent)

Certifications / Licenses:

FINRA Series 63 and 79 licenses required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)

Technical Competencies:

Proficiency with financial modeling, client presentations, and valuation analyses.

Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe, Cap IQ, Pitchbook, and other related pitchbook products.

Travel Requirements:

There is some level of non-local travel based on specific engagements and business development activities.

This job requires working in our office.

The wage range for this position in Minnesota is: $108,400 - $217,000.

The wage range for this position in Illinois is: $108,400 - $225,000.

Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range. This role is also eligible for a bonus.
