Working under general supervision from lab members, the Student Research Assistant executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. They troubleshoot and implement modifications on existing techniques, as appropriate. The Student Research Assistant may suggest alternate technical routes and suggest options based upon research in the literature. They calculate, transcribe, and analyze data using proper techniques. This is a great opportunity for a student who is looking for research experience.
The Student Research Assistant position requires laboratory bench experience including making general stock solutions and basic laboratory skills and safety. They will learn to cut mouse brain sections on a microtome, stain the brain tissue with various markers, capture the images on a microscope and then perform computerized image analysis to quantify the staining. Training will be provided for the laboratory skills required of the position. Does this position require Patient Care? No Education: High School Diploma Preferred.
