Position Summary

The Field Internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both homebuilding and land development. Interns will work closely with our experienced construction and development teams on active job sites, gaining valuable insights into the day-to-day operations of home construction, land preparation, project management, and field supervision.

Construction Responsibilities

    Assist with site inspections to ensure that construction activities comply with plans, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Support the project management team by tracking project schedules, materials, and deliveries.
  • Monitor the progress of subcontractors and report any issues or delays to supervisors.
  • Aid in maintaining and organizing job site documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Observe and assist in the implementation of safety protocols and quality control procedures.
  • Help with the coordination of materials and tools for ongoing construction tasks.
  • Participate in team meetings and assist with planning and scheduling tasks as needed.
  • Perform general administrative tasks related to the field operations.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of residential construction processes, from foundation work to final finishing.

Land Development Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of land development sites, ensuring that zoning, land use, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Support the team with surveying and site analysis, including topography, soil testing, and environmental considerations.
  • Monitor progress of grading and excavation work to ensure that the land is properly prepared for construction.
  • Help with the coordination of utility installation (water, sewer, electrical) and road infrastructure for new communities.
  • Assist in ensuring that proper erosion control measures are in place during land development activities.
  • Observe and report on the condition of construction access roads and work areas, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Participate in meetings regarding land development plans and help with the research of local regulations or permits.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in homebuilding and the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or work experience in construction or a related field (not required).
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $20.00 - $25.00/hr
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Not eligible
