Position Summary

The Finance Internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the financial operations of a homebuilding company. As an intern, you will work closely with the finance team to assist in budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and other key financial processes essential to supporting construction projects and overall business operations.

Responsibilities

    Assist with the preparation of budgets for upcoming projects and homebuilding developments.
  • Support financial reporting tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with financial forecasting by analyzing past financial performance and projecting future costs and revenues.
  • Help maintain and track construction project costs, ensuring they align with budgets and timelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports related to financial performance, cash flow, and profitability.
  • Analyze financial data and assist in the development of financial models for potential new projects and investments.
  • Provide support for accounts payable and receivable processes, helping to ensure accurate billing and payment tracking.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project financial summaries for upper management and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and documents required for audits and tax filings.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Construction, Sales, Land Development, etc.) to gather data and support financial decision-making.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss financial strategy, project updates, and overall performance.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in the construction industry and the financial processes involved in homebuilding.
  • Solid understanding of basic financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, financial modeling).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or work experience in finance, accounting, or construction finance (not required).
  • Familiarity with construction project costs, construction software, or accounting platforms (e.g., Procore, QuickBooks, Sage).

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $20.00 - $25.00/hr
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Not eligible
