Who We Are

For more than 50 years, DARTS has been creating connections that enrich aging. Today, DARTS provides critical services to older adults and caregivers in Dakota and south Washington counties. These services include light housework, outdoor chores, home repairs, transportation, and resource connections. DARTS also delivers high-value programs like learning buddies, tech buddies, the breathing space, caregiver support, and culturally specific programming such as Latine and LGBTQ+ coffee and conversation sessions.

DARTS is committed to reaching diverse clients, volunteers, donors, and partners. DARTS is a respected leader in providing equitable solutions for seniors and caregivers that reflect diverse community needs and create a fulfilling aging journey. In recent years, DARTS has been a recipient of numerous awards including River Heights Chamber Business of the Year, Dakota County Regional Chamber Nonprofit of the Year and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging Champion of the Year.

Wages and Benefits

$120,000 - $160,000 annual salary; Generous paid time off, plus 9 paid holidays and 3 floating holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; health savings account (HSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. DARTS sponsors a retirement plan with a 3% employer match and immediate vesting.

Key Responsibilities

The President of DARTS is the strategic and operational leader and primary officer for this $3 million organization. This role requires a unique combination of exceptional vision, operational excellence, financial savvy, and growth mindset for this vital community resource in an era of increasing challenge and growing community needs and opportunities. This role secures, develops, and engages a strong and diverse internal team of roughly fifty employees and 1,000 volunteers, deep community connections, robust external partnerships, and a diverse board of directors.

Strategic Vision and Leadership:



  • Collaborating with the leadership team and the board to refine and implement a multi-year strategic plan.
  • Providing inspirational leadership and direction to the team to ensure the continued development and management of an effective and inclusive organization.


Community Outreach and Advancement:



  • Identifying, developing, and generating new clients, volunteers, and partners from the community.
  • Being present in the community, listening to community needs, identifying potential collaborations, and advocating for older adults and caregivers.


Infrastructure and Operations:



  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality services while managing for current and future growth.


Fiscal Management:



  • Ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization, including overseeing budgeting, funding, financial planning and forecasting, and reporting.


Strategic and Team Leadership:



  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing staff and volunteers.
  • Providing leadership and communication to the Board of Directors within the governance structure and working successfully with the Board of Directors to maximize its engagement and impact on the organization.


Aging Services Expertise:



  • Utilizing knowledge of aging services to inform program development and delivery.



Who You Are



  • You hold a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, human services, or a related field. Equivalent on-the-job experience in a related field or a comparable combination of education, career, and life experiences may substitute for a college degree.
  • You have proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a nonprofit organization, ideally related to aging or senior services.
  • You have previous experience leading strategic planning, operations, and fiscal management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • You possess excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • You demonstrate a commitment to successful leadership within the context of diverse and inclusive teams, client groups, and community partners.
  • You demonstrate a passion for the DARTS mission and a commitment to serving older adults and caregivers.
  • You have expertise in aging services or demonstrate the ability to be a strategic leader for a human services organization.
  • You have previous experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors, preferably bringing knowledge of building out a Board, facilitating engagement, and maintaining an effective governance structure.
  • You hold a valid driver's license and meet DARTS's driving record requirements, or you have access to reliable transportation. If the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
