The School of Physical Sciences Contract and Grant Financial Management Team supports postaward analytical, financial, administration, and training activities for contract and grant funding, and budget development for SoPS faculty and their various research and instructional programs
and initiatives. We manage funding (post-award) and closeout activities for federal, state, local and private sponsors. We analyze research funding trends and sources, forecast, plan, and manage research portfolios and our daily activities involve reviewing proposals to ensure
institutional compliance and program success; negotiating, administering, and monitoring contract and grant awards, including compliance with regulations, terms, and conditions; financial management and reporting; and sub award/subcontract issuance and administration.

Your Role on the Team

The Lead Center Research Administrator in the School of Physical Sciences (SoPS) uses advanced contracts and grants concepts to manage highly complex federal and private contracts and grants (approx. $10-$15 million) as well as other extramural funds that support various
Center research programs within SoPS with broad impacts to UCI and the surrounding communities of Orange County. Under the minimal direction of the SoPS Contract and Grant Manager, and as part of the School's senior financial management team, incumbent has independent decision making authority, with policy analysis and interpretation of complex scope, and independent problem solving responsibilities that require on-going interaction with all levels of university and agency faculty and staff. Uses skills as a technical leader in research administration to assess highly complex grant, contract, and subcontract transactions where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, manages programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources with a high degree of autonomy. Works on awards of diverse scope where problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues, problems without precedent and / or structure. Manages complex post-award administration on Center grants and contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and multiple sub awards. Guides less experienced staff in the unit, in the absence of Manager.
