Chicago, IllinoisAdd to Favorite Jobs Email this Job The Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure track Investigator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Responsibilities include conducting independent research within the broad domain of cardiovascular diseases, inclusive of comorbidities and risk factors including cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and congenital heart disease. It is expected that this faculty member will apply traditional and contemporary methodologies in epidemiology and population science to investigate the multi-factorial origins of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases such as multi-omics, harmonization of cohorts, harvesting of data from administrative sources, innovative clinical trial designs, implementation and dissemination science. In addition to leading an extramurally-funded research program, this faculty member will contribute to collaborative research within the department and institution. Additionally, this established investigator will contributing to mentoring of postdoctoral and predoctoral trainees (e.g., medical and graduate students) and faculty development. Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., ScD) or medical degree (e.g., MD, MBBS) in epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine, nutrition, nursing and other public health sciences. Applicants are expected to have 5 or more years of experience conducting and leading population and clinical studies in cardiovascular disease. Competitive candidates will have a track record of securing extramural research funding from the National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies (e.g, Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, Department of Defense) or foundations (e.g., American Heart Association. All candidates will have a track record of collegiality and demonstrated ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams. The primary academic appointment will be in the Division of Epidemiology, Department of Preventive Medicine in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. This full-time position carried the title of Associate Professor or Professor and is on the Investigator faculty track. The Division of Epidemiology has over 20 faculty members with a primary appointment and many more faculty within the department and across the school of medicine with secondary appointments who each contribute to the rich scientific and collegial environment. As part of general faculty responsibilities, appointed faculty are expected to participate in department and division meetings. Faculty are expected to contribute to the general governance of the medical school and institution by participating on task-oriented short-term (e.g., faculty searches) and long-term committees as needed and as aligned with a faculty members' expertise. Faculty are additionally expected to participate in scientific meetings and scholarly activities to build and sustain a national and international reputation. The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled. The position is full-time, in person and located in Chicago, IL. The expected base pay range for this position is $209,000 - $320,000. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
