What you'll do

Our teams include professionals in Software Engineering within our Applications, Tools, and Web Services Division. These teams develop software solutions that support, manage, and establish network connectivity. These applications enhance scalability, resiliency, and efficiency, while also using automation to improve operational processes.

The team you will be working with, provides hands-on experience in software development, system integration, and network-based applications in a collaborative and innovative environment.


The day-to-day

This intern will with the team to manage and improve internal tools and applications. Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, test, and deploy software applications
  • Implement automation solutions to streamline workflows and reduce manual efforts
  • Participate in code reviews and regular team meetings
  • Collaborate with other developers and product managers
  • Adding new features to internal tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues to maintain a high performing product

Internship Program Details:

  • You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams.
  • Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility.
  • To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.

What you'll need

Education Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026

Internship Dates:

  • You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:
    • Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025
    • Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 - September 12th, 2025

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with Python, Golang, Clojure or an equivalent programming language
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • US Citizenship required

What will help you on the job

  • Experience programming with:
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Exposure to automation frameworks and scripting
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Previous Viasat internship experience

Salary range

$20.91 - $56.97 / hourly.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
