Description
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator oversees the day to day operations of on-site harm reduction services at Access. On-site services include: syringe exchange, drop-in services, Community Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, naloxone distribution, health education and advisories, education on area resources, harm reduction supply distribution, risk reduction counseling, referrals to support services such as the clinic, MAT treatment, TFI survey opportunities, and other essential support services. The Program Coordinator will supervise volunteers and/or interns to ensure progress toward program deliverables, site safety, participant satisfaction, data reporting and service coordination. Primary Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the onsite syringe exchange:
- Coordinate the daily operations of the Access exchange site at Green Street including: syringe exchange services, materials data and demographic collection, maintaining the drop-in, and health navigation to other support services.
- Oversee site coverage, opening/closing duties, availability of risk reduction supplies & information, client service coordination, and general cleanliness of the space.
- Provide clients with easily accessible and low threshold services that operate within the harm reduction framework. This includes assisting clients with accessing medical and behavioral health care, substance use treatment, housing options and other essential support services, and referrals to homeless shelters.
- Monitor exchange space, supply rooms, and client bathrooms. Assist in developing protocols for these spaces.
- Conduct all appropriate data entry (including program and overdose prevention enrollment) in a timely manner.
- Maintain resources for PWID living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C, with a concentration on active substance users, homeless individuals, sex workers, transgender women, and re-entry populations.
- Work with the Program Manager to assist with inventory management including conducting weekly supply inventory, supply rotation and organization, and proper supply storage in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
- Assist Program Manager with data collection, reporting, and analysis, and program development/improvement.
Provide direct services and care to clients
- Participate in client outreach activities as needed.
- Provide training to clients on overdose prevention and how to use Naloxone to reverse an overdose.
- Directly respond and support other ACCESS staff with client interactions, including overdose response, crisis and de-escalation interventions, and complex health navigation activities.
- Work alongside Program Manager in maintaining a safe environment for clients and staff, maintaining a record of disciplinary actions as needed, including providing warnings to clients who act outside of our stated community guidelines, as well as post-suspension re-entry conversations.
Personnel management:
- Directly supervise volunteers and interns.
- Assist the Outreach Coordinator with staffing cross-coverage when needed
- Attend and organize program, department and agency meetings and trainings.
- Assist Program Manager with onboarding new staff to syringe exchange best practices, including data collection and supply distribution, and how best to provide care using the fundamentals of our harm reduction framework.

- Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of related work experience.
- Ability to provide non-judgmental, person-centered, and trauma-informed counseling.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office and experience with electronic data collection.
- Self-directed, motivated and flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to respond to medical and behavioral health crises within program purview.
- Proven problem solver with ability to manage multiple priorities required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising employees, volunteers, and/or interns strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of harm reduction and opioid overdose prevention strategies.
- Significant knowledge of health-related social issues faced by people who use drugs.
- Experience with EPIC or other EMR preferred.
- Experience as a team-leader a plus.
- Experience conducting trainings and facilitating support and educational groups, preferred

Physical Requirements: Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Physical work environment generally is that typical for an office in terms of lighting, temperature, and structure.
- Work may involve exposure to loud noise, strong odors, and emotionally liable individuals.
- Typically moderate physical activity requiring handling average-weight objects up to 15-30 pounds.
- May work with blood and other body fluids and could be exposed to pathogens and will require safety training
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require safety precautions and may require the use of protective equipment
