Applications Manager II Location Fort Novosel, AL Job Posting No 113071 you Start Date TBD Contract Fort Novosel AMS Salary Range DOE Posting Date February 25, 2025 Union No FLSA Status Exempt Shift Work Possible FT/PT Full-time Relocation No Travel Possible M1 is looking for an Applications Manager II: An Applications Manager II leads application projects, performs computer programming, and/or manages databases within the Information Technology Support (ITS) department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides work direction, develops system specifications, and gathers requirements for complex business solutions. * Manages research, product selection, timelines, consultants and project costs for commercial off the shelf (COTS) software implementation. * Provides support of computers, printers, and various other approved computer peripherals used for supporting government PM systems and other M1 business software. * Provides problem resolution for hardware, software, network and/or computer users for M1 managed applications or Government network issues communicated via telephone, email and the implemented helpdesk system. * Assist lower level Application Managers with help desk issues they are unable to resolve. * Provide over the shoulder assistance and mentorship to maintenance personnel using government PM systems. * Provides mentorship and training to less-experienced Application Manager I in order to improve productivity. * Improves customer experience and response time while working to increase application uptime and availability. * Provides project documentation and status to ITS supervision. * Works to ensure compliance with various government ITS network and computer policies and guides. * Track, records and reports all user issues forwarded through the ITS helpdesk. * Performs application maintenance for M1 business systems and government PM systems as required. * Maintains and follows various maintenance tracking and ticketing policies and procedures while documenting steps taken to correct various issues with software, network access and computer hardware. * Maintains and follows company and DOD standards while handling sensitive/confidential equipment, documents, and information. * Pursues on the job and individual training to increase knowledge and job skills. * Corrects/reports all observed unsafe practices/conditions. * Demonstrates job procedures and assists in the training of employees who are assigned to work in the classification. * Assists as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of Government/Company owned equipment and supplies. * Works and communicates with internal and external clients and customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. * Plays an active part in problem resolution and is committed to quality service. * Other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements: Original 11/9/22 QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Knowledge: Frequent use and general knowledge of Information Technology industry practices, techniques, and standards. Has an in-depth understanding and application of concepts and principles. Problem Solving: Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance. Discretion: Works under limited supervision. Work is reviewed periodically for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy. Impact: Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would normally require a moderate expenditure of resources to rectify. Liaison: Frequent internal company and external contacts. Represents organization on specific projects. Typical Experience & Education: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, business, or related discipline. Relevant prior experience and/or certifications can be substituted in lieu of education. * Four (4) years of previous on the job experience required including experience with computer hardware, software and programming, various Microsoft Operating Systems and a general understanding of common network services. * In depth understanding of application of concepts and principles is required. * Understanding of principles of database management and/or a working knowledge of application development using development techniques that are currently in use is required. * A proven understanding of TAMMS-A is preferred. * Application development, Project management certifications or training is preferred. * Must demonstrate well developed problem solving, technical writing, and reading comprehension skills. * Must be able to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification as well as other certifications or training needed to maintain elevated privileges on the DoDIN within a 6 month period. * Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. * Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and have the ability to work with others to effect solutions to ordinary situations/problems. * Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written). * Must be able to interact and communicate with technical and non-technical personnel. * Must be able to plan and prioritize work assignments with little supervision. * Must be willing and able to deal with the customers, employees, and general public in a courteous and professional manner. * Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position. * Must be able to obtain the level of Industrial Security Clearance required by the Government. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS * This classification activity is usually accomplished in an office environment and as such requires physical movements and postures associated with these activities. * Typical physical demands or activities include standing, bending, stooping, pushing, kneeling, reaching and walking. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 25 pounds. * Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
