This position is responsible for the financial monitoring of all clinical accounts within the Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology. This includes preparation and implementation of strategic plans for all activities consistent with the annual budget and the goals and objectives of the Department. This position will support the departments of Surgery, Urology and Dental and will directly report to the Director, Surgery, Urology and Dental.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide financial oversight for all departmental activity. This includes:

Budgeting:

  • Assists in the preparation and submission of annual operating and capital budgets for JCP and JUP.
  • Lends technical assistance to Department Leadership for preparation of the annual budget.
  • Monitors monthly Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (cost centers) to ensure that expenses and revenue are meeting budgeted financial targets.
  • Identifies and reports budget variances to Business Manager.
  • Leads the Year End financial reconciliation for JUP and JCP.

Financial Reporting:

Assists in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, which evaluate the productivity and financial performance of individual physicians and of the department. Provides variance analysis, financial forecasts, and performance evaluations for Department Administration using financial performance and budget data. Financial analysis of all clinical practice activities and special purpose accounts. Activities include:

  • Prepare and manage monthly division and physician practice financials, appropriately allocating departmental overhead expenses.
  • Reconcile monthly variance reports for all accounts.
  • Ensure that all deposits are being appropriately recorded and revenuereconciles to receipt summary reports.
  • Prepare and manage monthly IDC's.
  • Prepare financial forecasts for various divisions and/or programs as required.

Special Projects:

  • Prepares reports as needed for Physicians, Managers, and JUP/TJU/TJUH Finance Departments.
  • Generates new budgets for all new funds and budget changes for the TJU/TJUH/JUP.
  • Assists with preparation of the annual Capital Inventory for the department.
  • Prepares and maintains statistical and financial summary reports for the departmental clinical practices, academic and research programs.
  • Statistical reports include financial results, payor mix, and accounts receivable analysis, clinical volume, revenue and expense analysis, and indirect cost reporting.
  • Prepare special reports and graphs as requested by the Chairman, Division Directors, and Administrator.
  • Monthly oversight of newly recruited physicians P&L to ensure adequate support dollars are being allocated.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance required. Master's preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5- 10 years of Financial Management experience

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Expertise in Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, Vista Plus and basic accounting principles.
