Responsibilities:
- Assists and leads the custodial/janitorial staff in the performance of daily custodial cleaning tasks as outlined in the frequency report.
- Operates custodial/janitorial equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners, floor stripers and other applicable cleaning equipment to maintain the cleanliness of the assigned facilities.
- Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers and customers in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Communicates and acts as a cooperative and supportive team member with the staff, those persons served in the rehabilitative programs of the agency, GSA Building Managers, GSA staff, Contracting Officers, tenants and the public in a professional and ethical manner.
- Conducts inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Purchases all supplies, equipment and material necessary for carrying out the project approved and authorized by the Director of Commercial Services.
- Assists in the tracking of contract costing by providing purchase order receiving, payroll and frequency charting documentation to the Janitorial Coordinator.
- Suggests and implements adaptations to better improve the production capabilities and work measurements of persons served by the project contract.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment involved in the completion of the project contracts and ensures that the equipment on location is properly secured in the facility.
- Notifies the Janitorial Coordinator of any damage to equipment or property and of any incident/accidents that occur.
- Adheres to OSHA standards in relation to the proper use of chemicals and equipment involved in the day to day completion of custodial cleaning tasks.
- Fills out incident/accident reports to be submitted to the Safety Director.
- As a staff person, responsible for the safety of those workers in his/her charge via implementation of the safety procedures and policies of the organization.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of high school diploma or its equivalent. Previous working experience in a custodial service based position with two years of experience in supervision, knowledgeable about equipment operation, and custodial cleaning practices. Must have basic knowledge of acceptable cleaning standards and quality methods for the service industry in relation to the custodial field.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents relating to Industrial Services. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
- Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use and read a tape measure.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking of a wide range of practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract or concrete variables.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to provide proof of insurance is required to drive personal vehicle on company business. Additionally, an acceptable motor vehicle record based on Goodwill guidelines is required to drive a company vehicle or transport program participants.
