In this role, individuals will begin to take on some people management responsibilities while continuing with their individual contributor work as interaction developers about 60-80% of the time. The other 20-40% of the time would be spent supporting a small group of people in the ways described below.

The role of the people manager is primarily relational, and is intended to make sure the leader of the interaction development department has a good sense of the health and morale of the interaction development team. Managers help to look for ways to increase the job satisfaction and morale/health of their team, and help advocate for those changes. There is also an administrative role people managers play.

Responsibilities of the Interaction Developer, Manager, CL Team:

Individual Contribution

The Interaction Developer, Manager, Computation Layer Team will continue to spend 60-80% of their time contributing to the work of the project they are assigned to. The details of their assignments, however, may vary based on their ability to engage in daily tasks with more immediate turnaround times. Balancing the urgency of their tasks with their managerial responsibilities will need to be done through self-monitoring and revising. Managers will also help in considering assignments that support the work of their reports.

People Managing

The Interaction Developer, Manager, Computation Layer Team will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with and between their reports and communicating with stakeholders on other teams and projects. They will also be responsible for the professional happiness, growth, development, and intervention (if needed) of their reports. Details of their responsibilities include:

  • Handling project assignments and balancing project needs with individual bandwidth.

  • Checking in with reports on a regular basis (cadence determined by the manager and their report).

  • Organizing team meetings as needed.

  • Maintain awareness of employee goals and areas of growth and employees develop in those areas.

  • Maintain awareness of any performance risks and intervene when necessary.

  • Complete annual performance reviews and mid-year performance check-ins.

  • Manage expense reports for all reports and time cards and renewals of contract workers.

  • Advocate for pay raises and promotions.

  • Meet with other managers and CL leadership on a regular basis.

  • Model a healthy work/life balance by keeping regular hours and taking plenty of time off.

Basic Qualifications of the Interaction Developer, Manager, CL Team:
  • Degree in mathematics or adjacent field

  • 2+ years of experience teaching mathematics in the K-12 classroom or related field

  • 5+ years of experience as a CL specialist or similar role

  • Proficiency with CL including knowledge of internal functions and types.

  • Thorough understanding of internal build specifications and performance and accessibility requirements

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Alignment to team and company values around technology, design, pedagogy

  • Shared commitment to team efforts around accessibility and equity work

Preferred Qualifications of the Interaction Developer, Manager, CL Team:
  • 5+ years of experience as a CL specialist or similar role

What we offer:

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, stock options, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. This role is eligible to earn an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.

This position may be funded, in whole or in part, through American Recovery & Reinvestment Act funds.
