About the Role HOT JOB! IMMEDIATE OPENING! Culmen International is seeking a skilled and proactive Commissioning Test and Inspection Lead to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in overseeing the lifecycle of radiation portal monitor (RPM) system commissioning and decommissioning projects in the DHS Radiation Portal Monitor Program (RPMP). This is a remote/hybrid role with 70% travel in the domestic U.S. (TX, CA, WA, MI, SC, VA, FL, MS, NJ, and NY). Additional travel 2-4 times a year to client sites in Bethesda, MD or Alexandria, VA for meetings and training may be required.
This position is subject to 75% outdoor/25% indoor working conditions on-site in all elements of
weather and land.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work under pressure during critical project phases. This role involves significant collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring integration, validation, and operation of mechanical and control systems. This includes providing support for surveys of prospective sites, sites under reconstruction, and basic operator training on new equipment capabilities. What You'll Do in Your New Role *
Travel (up to 70%) to various locations in the U.S. for site surveys, equipment inspection, testing, and commissioning start-up activities
* Lead on-site commissioning and decommissioning activities, including inspections, validation, functional acceptance testing, and troubleshooting of equipment, software, systems connectivity and communication with dependent systems (e.g., traffic gates, alarms, cameras and optical readers, PLC, switches)
* Provide technical support, leadership, and project management to plan, schedule, and execute all phases of commissioning and decommissioning.
* Manage commissioning plans and documentation, including pre-functional checklists, progress reports, and final commissioning reports.
* Ensure adherence to documented site SOPs, overseeing the installation, removal, and operational continuity of mechanical equipment.
* Decommission existing equipment before replacement or upgrade, to include preparing compliant disposition plan with documented disposal.
* Provide training to team members and clients to familiarize them with new system operation and maintenance features installed in the upgrade
* Review engineering designs and electrical, network wiring diagrams with design engineers, construction general contractors, and client teams to ensure newly installed detection and related ancillary equipment meet performance and design standards
* Review technical contract deliverables and track/report on project milestones and program activities.
* Prepare detailed daily, weekly and activity project completion reports and documentation that includes project progress, issues problems, recommendations, test results and analysis.
* Other tasks and duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Travel 70% of the time (month) with variable notice. Some 10-12 hour days on-site required during critical system start-ups.

The projected compensation range for this position is $105,000 - $130,000 annually. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Culmen's total compensation package for employees.
