The Los Angeles Times has a temporary opening for an assistant Op-Ed editor. The principal duties are to solicit, edit and produce opinion content from outside contributors in all formats - breaking news opinion, analysis pieces, letters and more. Generating ideas and seeking out emerging writers are critical to success in this job. The ideal candidate is someone who thinks creatively about new ways to present opinion journalism. The ability to produce accurate, clear copy quickly in a digital-first environment is crucial. Broad experience with multiplatform content creation and a willingness to experiment are essential. This temporary position is expected to last six months. We will consider candidates who would work remotely in other time zones as well as those who would work in El Segundo, Calif.
