Coating Inspector

S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Coating Inspector to become part of our Construction Services team in Greensboro, North Carolina. Join S&ME today and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients!

What You Will Do:

As a Coating Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and durability of construction projects by overseeing and verifying surface preparation and coating applications.




  • Visit job sites to observe, document, and assess contractors' surface preparation and coating applications.



  • Monitor quality standards to ensure compliance with project specifications for materials such as steel, concrete, and cast iron.



  • Operate vehicles safely while traveling between assignments, accessing confined spaces, and working at heights.



  • Perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and scaffolding, handling field equipment, and lifting up to 50 lbs.



  • Utilize safety equipment such as full-body harnesses and respirators to ensure compliance with safety standards.





Who You Are:




  • You have a High School Diploma or GED.



  • You have at least 2 years of experience in industrial coating application and surface preparation.



  • You have an AMPP (formerly NACE) Level I or Level II CIP Certification.



  • You have strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.





Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:




  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.



  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day.



  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment).



  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites.



  • Working in confined spaces and climbing to heights up to 200 ft using ladders or scaffolding.
