Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Operator IV operates machine(s) as defined in the Machine Operator Manual and following all safety procedures. Perform simple changeover and set up. Load supplies and make adjustments to semi-automated machine(s). Machine operator is responsible for ensuring the machine works properly, utilizing the correct materials for the product and keeping the equipment running. The Operator must demonstrate a detailed understanding of the quality requirements for the products being produced and able to make adjustments as necessary to achieve maximum quality. In addition is responsible for troubleshooting equipment effectively and appropriately seeking assistance of a trained mechanic. When necessary clearly communicating equipment problems to the mechanic and asking questions if necessary. Reports any problem with the equipment or supplies to their supervisor or team leader. These positions have a direct effect on the quality of our products. This role may be used as a training prerequisite for a higher-level Machine Operator position.

Equipment typically operated by Machine Operator IV level employees include:

  • Auto Cartoner
  • Brite Stacker
  • De-Palletizer
  • Rack Oven

Machine operator is responsible for the following duties:

  • Set up equipment at the beginning and during the shift
  • Bring supplies to the area and ensure correct supplies are used.
  • Able to effectively trouble shoot equipment.
  • Know terminology and components of all areas of equipment. Operate control panel.
  • Document operations by completing all required forms.
  • When machine issues arise, call the mechanic and explain the problem.
  • Make sure the product is sealed and has the correct code (if applicable).
  • Change packaging materials to avoid downtime and identify sub-standard materials and supplies.
  • Operate machine in a safe manner.
  • Communicate to supervisor/ team leader any machine or process problems in a timely manner.
  • Consistent clean-up and stock of area perform general housekeeping tasks as it relates to respective area in order to provide a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work well in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Comply with the policies outlined in the Amy's handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

  • Must have at least 6 months of Amy's experience or demonstrated previous machine operator experience.

Language Skills

  • Able to read simple instructions.
  • Able to complete simple forms.
  • Able to verbally communicate with supervisor.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.

Reasoning Ability

  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, cold (coolers and freezers) and hot (processing equipment) conditions, and moving mechanical parts. May work near equipment that generates heat. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
