SUMMARY: Disassemble and re-assemble ophthalmic frames, for prescription lenses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary Duties: You are required to work scheduled hours associated with job responsibilities. Insert correct lens into correct lens side of frame (right and left lens). Ensure that lenses are correct size and fit in frameEnsure that any special beveling needs are met for each individual RxProperly align frame by carefully bending with fingers and/or tools. Verify the axis on all single vision lenses. Make sure lenses are cosmetically acceptable. Align bifocals and progressives to make sure they are straight across. Briefly inspect frame for defects or broken parts. FRAME ALIGNMENT: All new frames should have a correct four point touch. Temples and front should be square. Spring hinge frames are satisfactory if slightly bent in. Front wrap should be minimal unless by design of frame. Pad arms should be bend at equal distance. There should be no bridge twist or co-plainer. Temples should close evenly. All screws must be tight. NoV in eye wire. Check for sealed eye wear instructions. Secondary DutiesCross-Train in other positions and help in other areas of the department as neededRemove eye wire screws from ophthalmic frames to facilitate insertion of edged lenses. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: 1 year of Lab experience is helpful. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to read prescriptions. Able and willing to work as a team. Able to read and write English Language well. Have good eyesight, hand/eye coordination, manual dexterity, attention to detail and patience. Work without supervision. Must be available to work overtime and Saturdays when needed. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to fingers handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms and use tools provided to complete his/her work. The employee frequently is required to stand and or/sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to read, follow instructions and adjust to focus. Safety RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Sitting requirements: More than > =7. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Basic understanding of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and the Hazard Communication Program. Safety glasses, gloves are provided and required to use in this area at all time. Closed toe and heel shoe are required.
