Description

The Food Services Coordinator will be responsible for the management of food services ensuring food quality, consistency in meal services, and meals are cost effective. S/he will establish systems to monitor food services and improve costs.

How You'll Be Making a Difference



  • Oversee food purchasing for all programs. Supervise all program Cooks; hire, train, manage performance and evaluate staff ensuring ServSafe certification, cooking skills and ongoing training opportunities.
  • Responsible for overseeing food expenditures consistent with program budget.
  • Implement cost-savings measures. Ensure programs are in compliance with the DESE National School Lunch and Breakfast program.
  • Work with Dietitian in creating healthy and well balanced menus which meets all USDA requirements.
  • Ensure programs maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment for food preparation and serving adhering to standards and health and safety inspections.
  • Provide cooking and back-up coverage as needed.
  • May coordinate with clinical and educational staff to develop a vocational training program for residents


Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. BA/BS in related field preferred.
  • Food Service Certification required.
  • 3 - 5 years of kitchen and food preparation experience a must.
  • 1 - 2 years of management experience.
  • Prior experience working in a residential/institutional kitchen environment helpful.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, have high organizational skills.
  • Product /Purchasing experience a plus.
  • Financial analysis skills desired.
  • Training & mentoring experience a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Regular use of hands and fingers to handle tools within the food service trade. Ability to reach and work at kitchen appliances and counters for more then 80% of shift. Ability to easily maneuver around kitchen area. Exposure to heat and cold from stoves and freezer and coolers. Exposure to raw meats. Exposure to kitchen cleaning supplies.
