Job Description Summary:

The specialist will be operating and maintaining critical Government equipment used in the support of the testing of GPS satellites. Operations includes testing of satellites, post-processing of the test data, and report generation. This work is of a non-repetitive nature requiring highly specialized skills.
*Oversee and run the Draper Cambridge GPS Satellite Test Area
*Communicate with program management and engineering support groups as needed to keep the Satellite Test Area running smoothly
*Coordinate and process equipment transfers per program management request
*Assist with the management of the GPS Satellite Test Area computer systems, internet servers, telecommunications and property
*Assist with COMSEC custodian responsibilities in support of GPS testing
*Assist with the management of classified material
*Assist with the accountability of government and Draper property (inventory control)
GPS Test Operations
*Review and comment on GPS test plans and procedures to ensure the test objectives are obtainable
*Once trained, configure hardware for appropriate test scenarios and operate GPS Satellite test equipment in support of test events
*Generate test reports as needed
*Perform System Software validation testing, upon new software deliveries
*Travel to test location when needed in support of GPS test events (rare)
Program Office and Customer Support
*Attend weekly TEAMS status meetings
*Attend property coordination meetings as needed
*Support the Program Manager as needed to ensure continued productivity and compliance with the contract
*Support customer program reviews as needed by providing slide material, occasional meeting participation and presentation of site operation, maintenance and status

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Ability to independently complete assignments by applying technical knowledge to defined problems with minimal oversight.
* Contribute content for technical reports and presentations with appropriate guidance.
* Adapt appropriately to changes in program requirements.
* Identify challenges associated with assigned work and communicate them to project leadership.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities
* Curiosity-driven approach to solving complex, industry and customer-driven problems as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Collaborate and communicate effectively and openly with multi-disciplinary program team members. program leadership, and non-technical personnel
* Be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to balance multiple competing tasks and demands.

Education
Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.

Experience
0-3 years in Systems Engineering or relevant role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work day, and rare evening, night, and weekend shifts as scheduled by the program manager
  • Ability to lift and install/remove electronic hardware and computer equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and Python
  • Proficiency with RedHAT Linux and Windows operating systems
  • COMSEC custodian experience
  • Any of the following (training to be provided):
  • GPS satellite system testing processing and procedures
  • GPS test asset system operations and maintenance
  • Test asset computer management and auditing scripting in Python
  • MATLAB post processing of GPS test data
  • Development of new analytical MATLAB tools

Security Requirement

  • Applicants selected for this position are required to hold an active SECRET security clearance
