The Kentucky gigafactory in Bowling Green will supply Mercedes-Benz with high-performance battery cell modules. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. About the Role

Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) will provide expert support, recommendations, and coaching to all levels of the organization in key HR areas such as Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Talent Management, and Employee Engagement. The ideal candidate will collaborate with management to execute strategic HR initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall business goals and developing various projects to enhance business effectiveness.

What You Will Do
  • Employee Relations & Engagement: Foster an environment of employee engagement by actively coaching and advising managers on best practices. Act as an employee advocate to maintain positive employee relations and resolve conflicts in a proactive manner.
  • Training & Development: Identify organizational and individual training needs, develop learning programs, and provide training to employees at all levels. Lead onboarding efforts, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires, from I-9 compliance to benefits enrollment.
  • Recruitment: Support the recruitment process for both exempt and non-exempt roles, including job description development, advertisement creation, candidate screening, and interviewing.
  • Compliance & Policy Implementation: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and develop, recommend, and implement HR-related policies and procedures. Maintain and update employee handbooks and ensure policies are communicated effectively.
  • Payroll & Benefits: Serve as the AESC benefits relations contact for employees and liaise with external vendors to address employee inquiries. Support the payroll process, with the ability to administer payroll as needed.
  • Performance Management & Investigations: Work closely with management on employee performance issues, compliance investigations, and corrective actions. Conduct investigations and administer discipline per company policies.
  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Track key metrics related to employee engagement, performance, and compliance, and develop action plans to close any identified gaps. Ensure the maintenance of organizational charts, employee directories, and departmental reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement new processes and procedures to continuously improve HR functions across the organization.
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Travel

Occasional travel may be required between different gigafactory locations or other office locations to provide HR support.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a proven track record of achieving results in HR roles.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of key HR initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience or willingness to work in a global context, adapting to the challenges of international markets.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility and adaptability to changing business needs.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably within the automotive, EV, or battery manufacturing industries.
  • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
  • Experience in project management and the ability to lead HR projects independently.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and HR analytics, with experience in data-driven decision-making and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives that support company culture, such as employee engagement programs or talent development strategies.
  • Prior experience supporting a multi-location organization or working in a global HR role.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
