NEW BALANCE JOB DESCRIPTION: Global Store Development - Global Retail Designer I

JOB MISSION

The mission of the Global Store Development - Retail Design team is to define global store designs that are at the forefront of the industry, creating innovative, consumer-driven concepts for New Balance branded environments.

The Global Retail Designer I will assist in the creation of new, innovative and scalable retail concepts, fixtures and experiences to be executed in all global markets. They will bring a creative energy to the team to develop new solutions that deliver against the New Balance retail creative vision, addressing brand direction, consumer satisfaction and business needs.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

DESIGN

  • Assist in the creation, adaptation and refinement of retail concepts and environmental components.
  • Research relevant examples of retail, art and design to compile creative vision inspiration.
  • Research retail design specifications such as materials, lighting and furniture.
  • Assist in design of new fixture elements to solve various consumer and market driven needs.
  • Develop 3D models and renderings to support concept development.
  • Develop designs via standard documentation methods such as floor plans, elevations and sections.
  • Assis in development of presentation documentation and materials.

COLLABORATION

  • Collaborate closely with other Retail Designer(s) on new concept work.
  • Collaborate with Store Planning team to assist on execution of retail environments.
  • Work cross-functionally with Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Operational internal partners to understand needs and ensure new designs deliver against criteria.
  • Support coordination with external partners for development and production of fixtures and design elements via design documentation.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

  • Degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience; retail industry background a plus.
  • Interest and knowledge of latest trends in design, graphics, fashion. Interest and knowledge in sustainable design practices and materials a plus.
  • Excellent 3D modeling skills (Sketchup/similar), with presentation-level rendering capabilities (Enscape); AutoCAD drafting and Adobe Creative Suite expertise required.
  • Ability to quickly communicate design ideas through sketching and/or quick 3D studies,
  • Strong communication skills - written, oral and graphic, to effectively convey design intent
  • Ability to manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks at once.
  • Some travel may be required in future.

Flexible Work Schedule

Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
